OK, This is another gadget that my lord and savior Alton recommends as a ridiculously great tool. The interface is easy and the construction is sturdy. It also comes with a belt holster which is really important when I go to Trek conventions. In the 3 days I've had it I've been able to determine the temperatures of my cats, dog, and cooking surfaces. It's also a great laser pointer for your cats if your really into that thing. I've been using it to determine the perfect temperature to sear meat and to find the exact point when scrambled eggs are done. This isn't a necessity but I believe my grill season will be bountiful and full of delicous properly seared chops,steaks, and briskets.

Good unit at a good price:
The unit works as advertised, check items of known temperature shows it to have a good calibration. Quite happy with the unit.

Good quality product, accurate readings:
The build quality of this infrared thermometer is great, good design and feels very solid. The laser provides pinpoint accuracy on the surface that is being measured. I found the readings to be very accurate +/- 2 degrees for an instrument in this price range. The display is easy to read and the 15-second automatic shut-off is perfect.

**Verstatile tool for jobs around the house**:
I bought this thermometer to find the radiant heat coils in my floor. It worked perfectly and I soon was able to diagram all the runs within each of our six zones. From there, I found I could use this for finding cold spots around windows, outlets and even within our walls where insulation had settled or was missing. And then I was able to check refrigerator, oven temps, etc. Versatile and easy to use. And it has a great distance to spot ratio of 12:1. Highly recommended!
