Son likes it, good starter set:
My 5 year old son got this for Christmas and has played with it a couple of times. We finally got it all to work today, as it does require some time commitment by an adult. The key is that it is a starter kit - my son has other Hot Wheels tracks that I haven't pulled out yet, but once I do I think that will greatly improve the fun value of this toy.

Santa done good this year!:
"Santa" gave this to our 5 year old son this year. First, he jumped up and down so excitedly that he gave Mommy an uppercut with his skull. He and his 2 year old brother play with it nearly constantly (OMG--they're SHARING!!!) I have a hard time "making" them watch TV now--they only want to play with this. I've heard that some of the Hot Wheels cars don't work with this set, but all of the 25-30 in our collection do. My son actually wrote Santa a thank-you note for this present. The only downside so far is that the rubber band from the claw thing has gone missing, which means either it's snapped or little inquiring hands can easily pry it off. They do include replacements in the box.

Great toy if you could buy each peace separate:
We bought this toy for our 5 year old. It was fun to play with the first day and everything worked well. When we tried to put it back together the next day the claw didn't work. Everything else was fun and worked great but not the claw. I want the loop and launcher separate. I am returning this product because of bad quality.

Good toy:
We gave this to my 3 1/2 year old son for Christmas. He loves this toy, but we have to set it up for him. Also, the track comes with a car and we gave him a 5 pack. It would be a good idea to get another 5 pack. I thought this track was like a race track where you put one car at the start and watch it follow the entire track all the way to the end. I was wrong. There are 3 stunts and you fill up each stunt with cars (some take more than 1 car). You start the first car, when it reaches the first stunt it triggers the second car to go, etc. Overall, it's a good toy. I gave it four stars b/c I'm sure for boys 4-7 it's great! My son loves it & I know he will grow into it. I was a bit disappointed.
