Less helpful than I expected: I should have looked a little more closely before buying this book. It's totally brand and celebrity focused, sprinkled with quotes from the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow to Kimora Simmons, and product recommendations including brand new Jimmy Choo stilettos to accomodate your swelling feet (seriously!). Also not sure I needed to buy a book for earth-shattering advice such as: "if you're hair becomes dry, switch to a more rich conditioner meant for dry hair". No kidding. There is an extensive list of websites that sell stylish maternity clothes, and I am sure if you go through them all you are bound to find stuff you like. Overall, I felt it was a little over the top, and not very practical for the average woman but I guess that's what rock star means. You've been warned.
Written by a rock star's wife---keep that in mind!: This book was written by the wife of Mark Hoppus-of the rock band Blink 182. If you're expecting this book to be for "normal folk", you'll be disappointed. If you have an unlimited income and aren't forced to peruse the racks at the local mall's Motherhood Maternity store, then this book is for you! I mean, Kimora Lee Simmons and Gwyneth Paltrow are 2 of Hollywood's most egotistical women. With these 2 giving you style advice, it's no wonder you're going to be told to drop $450 on a pair of pregnancy stilettos. The book sucks. Don't waste your money.
Fun break from the traditional pregnancy books: While some of the items they discuss are pricey and may not be realistic for everyone, this book is definitely written for those of us who don't necessarily want to wear the same clothes everyday or squash our personal style. It's a fun read and does have helpful info.
Awesome Guide for Pregnancy Fashion: Who knew pregnancy could be fashionable? This book proves it! Chock full of great ideas for the pregnant mom to feel good about how she looks, this book is long overdue. It also includes some fabulous information regarding the safety of hair coloring during pregnancy - as well as skin care and cosmetics use - information that most new moms may not admit is foremost in their minds after becoming pregnant. In addition to providing these great ideas, the authors also provide the reader with the sources to go and get them herself, if she is so inclined. The internet resources go on and on. I especially like the chapter that reviews some transitional looks for after having the baby. For most new moms, how they look after having a baby will greatly impact how they feel! It Gets Easier!: And Other Lies We Tell New Mothers
If you want real pregnancy info, don't bother here. This is just a fun novelty type book!: This is a fun read. It has cute fashion tips in here but outside of that this book is probably geared more towards celebrities. The author references clothes that are probably more than the average woman wants to spend during her pregnancy. I am all about designer clothes but I'm not sure this book has any valuable information about what to expect during a pregnancy. So don't buy this with that expectation. Buy this as a fun read.
