Finally, a Blythe doll for the Western World!: Well, it is about darn time that Mattel got its act together and realized that we American gals are worthy of our own "Blythe"-style dolls. It only took them 30+ years to figure that out. Anyways--I am in love with my new Glamalina doll. Her head and eyes are WAY bigger than Blythe (Japanese doll with big head, big eyes, made by Mattel), so she has mega-cute factor. Also, the glasses add such a great touch. The interchangeable eyes are awesome, 4 colors instead of Blythe's 3. Problems: Her hair is just ridiculous. WAY TOO LONG. It was a real mess, and already it was falling out here and there as I was removing her from the box. The hair really should be shorter. (...). I'm hoping Mattel will be releasing more than just 3 of these dolls--3 is an awfully small number and doesn't leave much room for people who'd like to start collecting. And, FINALLY----dolls like this are NOT just for children. Get that through your thick skulls Mattel, and all doll manufacturers!!!!! I am 27 and I collect Blythe and Blythe accessories, but she is hard to come by in America and is quite expensive. I would like for the BeautyCuties to be up to the same standards as the Blythes--ie: shiny, more realistic eyes, hair that does not fall out everywhere, a broad selection of wigs, dolls, clothing, accessories, etc. And dolls with shorter hair. We ain't all Barbies walkin' around here, yo. I'd LOVE to see a BeautyCutie with short, spiky hair. I myself am living proof that you can be female and very feminine while still sporting short, spiky locks. Get with the program Mattel--it's the 21st century. Re-align your ideals of beauty with those of the real world for once. I know I rant a lot, but I do really love my Glamalina doll. The first thing I did was pull her hair up and back, so that she appears to have short hair--this actually maximizes the cuteness and originality of her face, eyes, glasses, and ensemble. And I love the little painted toe nails, the fact that we can choose between her sitting or standing...but most of the accessories that came with her are pretty worthless. I love her, but I could love her even more if some things were changed.
