mowing - yes, you can do it yourself:
B & D 18" electric mower is great. I grew up with brothers, so I was assigned "girl" work - ironing, washing dishes, so I had never mowed a lawn. I hired others to mow the lawn b/c I didn't have the equipmt or experience and was a little worried it might be too hard. Guess what - at almost 50 yrs old, I've learned that mowing isn't so hard, this mower is light and easy to use (I don't have to mess w/gas, oil, sparkplugs - whatever). I just pull up the handle and off I go. Great exercise, I save $100 I'd be paying someone else, it's done when I think it needs to be done and I get a work out, too.

Works well even in the desert:
After moving from New England to Tucson two years ago I never thought I'd need a mower again! But when the summer rains come, grass grows and looks unruly. When the rains leave, the grass dies and at different heights and types, looks awful. I've seen neighbors using string trimmers, but they are noisy and don't mince the grasses. After talking with a Florida friend that uses a pure battery operated mower, I decided to see what my ol' friend Amazon.com had to offer. I read the reviews and gave it some thought. I wanted the grasses to be bagged, but the reviews for the optional bagger were about 90% against it, so thought I'd take the chance and just get the mower. It arrive promptly and took only minutes to assemble. I was soon on the lawn (if you can call the country desert a lawn) and putting the mower to the test. It worked wonderfully! The mower didn't put up much of a fuss in the deeper grasses and within an hour or less, I'd accomplished what I'd hoped could be. Great product, great company...thanks to those that take the time to write a review...thanks to Amazon.com for making my life easier in many ways!

Lightweight & easy 2 use:
This mower is lightweight and easy to use. If you are a young lady that cuts her own grass (like me), it works. Plus I can actually carry it up and down the stairs, since I store it in the basement. My other mower was too heavy to get up the steps and it stopped working after a year. The only down side is that it is a bit flimsy. I wouldn't get too rough with it guys!

Good Choice:
This is a great little mower. Especially like the auto shut-off feature and the adjustable height wheels. Easy to maneuver. The cord is a good length, and handling it while mowing is not a problem.

Black & Decker 18-inch Electric Mower #LM175:
I purchased this product because of past experience with a Black & Decker Electric Mower I purchased in 1988. That mower lasted until about 2 months ago. Believe it or not no repairs were needed and only had to replace the wheels twice in 20 years of use! I wonder if this one will last as long and be as serviceable as my old one?
