safety and comfort:
This is the second one of these can openers and it has been improved! Easier to use than the first one but just as safe. I have given this product as a gift to friends because it is so convenient and opens cans without the sharp edges! Great product!

Throw out all of your old gadgets...:
I have owned this Kuhn Rikon can opener for several years. When I bought mine, only white was available. It is now available in a variety of colors to match your kitchen decor. It is the best can opener I have ever used. I threw out all of the others I had, and use only this one on any cans, large-to-small. You only have to get used to the fact that it does not work on the side of the can; it works from the top of the can. I was so impressed with this opener that I have purchased Kuhn Rikon's pepper grinder, dual cruet, potato peelers and both piranah peelers. They all work great! Today's purchases were gifts for a family member. These are well engineered, well made, moderately priced kitchen gadgets. I love Kuhn Rikon's whole line.

Love this can opener:
We've had one of these for years and just loved it. It is SO much better and cleaner than the old type. When my daughter and her husband needed one, we bought them one as well and they also really like it. It does take a few tries to learn how to use it but after you learn, it's no problem at all. The old type can opener gets dirty every time you open a can, and this on does not- that the best feature of all.

Best Can Opener I've Ever Owned:
I recently purchased the Kuhn Rikon Safety Lid Lifter Can Opener to replace my broken dollar store can opener (you know the type... cheap metal and hard as heck to use). The first night, I used it to open a can of tomato paste. The can was small and hard to manage. It took me a couple of tries to get the can opener to latch down on the tiny can. However, once it did (and I got the hang of using this unique device), the rest was so easy! Turning the knob was effortless and the edge of the can was smooth to the touch-- no safety concerns here! The design is classy... very minimalistic and modern. The opener feels comfortable to use. It works flawlessly.
