Book Description: This biggest book in CH history is truly comprehensive. It covers the full spectrum of home landscaping considerations, from design principles to construction projects and from plant selection to plant care. The book consists of three parts: I. Designing explains how to assess your needs and your site and how to develop designs and install them with confidence. II. Hardscape shows how to design, build, and install ponds, paths, steps, walls, fences, paving, and sprinkler systems. III. Plants tells how to select, plant, and care for flowers, trees, shrubs, ground covers, lawns, vegetables, and herbs-with listings of plants suited to each reader's climate and growing conditions.
General landscaping ideas for a neophyte: I was looking for a comprehensive book that included general landscaping concepts/ideas, walkways and hardscaping ideas, plant information, planting technique, deck/patio elements....pretty much everything including a good balance between great photographs and substantive content. I got it with this book!
Comprehensive and Very Helpful: Whether you are a professional landscaper or a weekend gardener, this book provides a multitude of information in understandable terms and concepts. From plant selection, starting a new lawn or re-doing an existing one, to building pathways, irrigation systems, and rockeries, this book has it all. The authors have included just about everything you may ask about your yard or garden with helpful directions, options, and instructions. All gardeners should have this resource on their bookshelf. It will be used -and often!
