[.uk] The Gold Coast Cure: The 5-Week Health and Body ... (ISBN 0757302351)

Finally some truth!!!:
Finally - a book that makes sense and a diet that doesn't leave you starving! The nutritional information that is provided in this book is AMAZING. The authors do an excellent job at not just providing a food list, but going into the how's and why's of certain foods and their effect on our bodies. CLearly, these people have done their research and it shows. THe basis of the diet is to eat anti-inflammitory foods, to eat 3 meals a day (only include a mid afternoon snack if very hungry) and to eat 'balanced' meals that include 'good' carbs + 'good' fats + fruits and/or veggies + protein. One thing that this book taught me is not to be afraid of 'fat' if its a 'good' fat - good fats (omega 3's and 6's) will actually help you loose weight. The diet also doesn't totally eliminiate saturated fats and sweet snacks - you are allowed to have 20 grams of saturated fat (this is optional) per day (i.e. in the form of butter, full fat cheese, red meat etc) but absolutely, positively NO TRANS FATS!!!!!!!!! ALso, if you are not watching your weight, you are also allowed one sweet snack a day. However, these need to be limited and/or eliminated if you are watching your weight. The exercise program is fully illustrated and easy to follow - a true gem of a book!!!!!! I'm really looking forward to my 'journey' with this book!!!!! AND I will recommend it to all my friends who want to get serious about getting healthy, living longer and being happier.

Solid information, fresh presentation:
Here's the punch line: If you know that you should be eating better and exercising, and other books haven't really helped, this one may do it. Yes, you've heard that before and been disappointed. But, I'm speaking from experience.... lots of experience. I've read a lot of health-related books, probably over a hundred. As much as I can, I shop in the "healthy" section of the grocery store, and at stores such as Whole Foods. I watch PBS shows about nutrition and take notes. I own far too many diet books, health books, and exercise videos. I'm not a hypochondriac or a health-food nut. I'm a slightly overweight slacker who'd rather eat cold pizza for breakfast, and who thinks store-bought eggnog is one of the best parts of the holiday season. I mark my calendar to remember when Girl Scout cookies go on sale. In other words, I need to improve my lifestyle, but motivation has eluded me until now. This book "clicked" with me. For someone like me, it's an absolute page-turner. It cuts to the chase about why you should eat well and exercise. With that information, clearly presented, I understood what I need to do to improve my health. And, I understood it on a gut level... no pun intended. Now, healthy living is not just a set of rules that are loosely connected. They're habits that have something in common: Reducing inflammation. I bought this book because, from the first page, I saw that it was something different and important. Its so clearly presented, I'll confess that I skimmed much of it and still got the point, clearly. The exercise DVD in the back was a surprise, and a great bonus. I won't pretend that I've broken all of my bad habits yet. However, my healthier lifestyle plans used to be, "I'll eat better when I find some good, easy, yummy recipes... next week." Now, I find myself thinking about good fruits and veggies as I'm browsing the cookie aisle at the grocery store. Yesterday, I actually chose unsweetened applesauce instead of Oreos. Establishing good habits will take some time, but this book shifted my approach from memorized rules to a simpler, more intuitive understanding of what's healthy and what's not. With that, changes are far easier, even at the holidays when my kitchen is full of temptations. A week ago, I bought a half gallon of ice cream and began reading this book. The ice cream is still sitting in my freezer. This is the first time that's happened in years. Usually, it's gone in two or three days. I like this book and recommend it. It's made a difference to me, and it may help you, too.

Good purchase:
Purchased two copies of the Gold Coast Cure. Very pleased with the books (one was a gift) and in the promptness in which they were received. Thank you.

Easy reading:
This book is easy to read and understand. Full of helpful knowledge. Would highly recommend it to anyone with the diseases listed on the back cover of the book. Had the books within 4 days of ordering them. Get it and share it.

Accurate Results:
I ordered this book when I saw the Authors on Montel Williams show a couple of years ago. Having Multiple Sclerosis I was willing to try it. I have to say that I felt so much better, not to mention lost a few pounds. I definitely would recommend (and have recommended) this book to others.
