One American Boy: The Dolph Crawford Story: Guido the Great "Objectivist" here is what I have to say to you, first learn how to spell, and then maybe just maybe I might think that you have some education. I can't believe the review that you gave this book. It is obvious that you are just a hateful person and that you just want attention. Well! You have it from me. Here is what I think you should do. Go back to school and learn two things how to spell and learn some manners. I understand that we are all entitled to our opinion, but please learn some respect. I have read this book and I have found it honest, painful, scary at times and heartbreaking. I love the way Dolph did not think about what people might think of him, he wanted you as the reader to see his reality and feel his pain. And I did!!!! Guido I think you might be just a little jealous and I think you should do something about it, LIKE MAYBE WRITE A BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SPELL CHECK.
SKIMMING THE SURFACE?: shallow and sketchy. much too preachy and politically correct for my taste. dolph plays the role of the victim very well. was this a pg ( or maybe a soft r ) version of his life? I get the feeling he's leaving much out. superficial, and not thorough enough. not totally without some redeeming qualities, but still a disappointment.
One American Boy Was Good Worthy of Reading: There are always small minded people who think because they can spell they are the repositories of good taste and moral fiber. People who trash ideas simply because they conflict with theirs are not worth listening to. The book does not suggest it speaks for all. The book One American Boy : The Dolph Crawford Story by Dolph Crawford is one gay man's perspective on his life and he shared its truth with us with unflinching candor as only he could. Agree with him or not One American Boy : The Dolph Crawford Story by Dolph Crawford is man enough to put his cards on the table and reveal himself to the world that we might learn. Any slug can fire hurtful ignorant barbs from the sidelines using the faceless internet as their shooting bind. The United States is a great country but it has its flaws. The United States has a LONG way to go before it becomes the ideal place where issues of gay, straight, race, religion and other issues are worked out in ways that let people live as themselves without fear of being hurt or abused physically or economically. The man spoke the truth in his book and for that get gets my highest five star recomendation and my thanks for his efforts on all our behalfs. There will always be small minds in the United States please do not let the rantings of the tiny mind story you from enjoying a great book.
It's a STINKER!: If I was a Teacher (like the co-author) I'd give give this stinkin' piece of writing a 'C', an 'R', an 'A' and a 'P'. It reeks!
Insightful book and incredible man: I heard a review about this book on satellite radio and it really caught my attention. When I purchased the book I had no idea how much I would connect to Dolph's story. I couldn't put it down and it left me wanting to know more. I saw a few months later that Dolph was doing a book signing near where i lived. I found myself waiting in line to meet this man, that I felt I already knew. After waiting in line for 2 hours I was finally standing in front of him. I was speechless. I just stood there with my book in hand. I wanted to say so much, but for once in my life I was nervous and shy. Dolph, however, was so nice and so approachable. He was more of a welcomming friend. He took so much time visiting with me as he had done with each person who was in line. I understood now why the line was moving so slow. But for the few moments that we spoke he made me feel so important and he was more interested in me and what my life was like. It was as if he really cared about each one of his fans. He had no attitude or he was not cocky, he was friendly and approachable. I have even more respect for him as a person. After reading his book and seeing his pictures and films, I thought that he would be egotistic and unapproachable. He was neither. I wish I could meet with him again and really talk to him about his life and his journey. I can't wait for his next book. I highly recommend this one to any one who has ever thought they were different. I have never written an review before, but just want any reader to know that this book is worth the money and the read. It will leave you wanting more and really wanting to meet this man that has endured so much in life, but from what i witnessed, when i met him, has come through it all and is a great human being. I love you dolph. I truly wish you all the best.
