Frommer's Banff & Jasper National Parks: This was almost the only book I followed during my vacation to Banff and Jasper. This books is packed with tips, travel plans and a ton of information for your Canadian Rockies tour. Its a great book!
Comprehensive Park Guide: I have used the Canada guide in the past when visiting Banff, but this book provides more in depth coverage of the parks (Banff and Jasper). If your primary visit is to these places, I would recommend this book as an excellent guide!
Adequate: The Frommer's guide to Banff and Jasper had the expected information but somehow seemed less useful than Lonely Planet guides I have bought for other trips. I didn't like one of the places they recommended staying (Banff Caribou Lodge - nice on the outside but a tiny old guest room). It has hiking information but it just didn't seem very useful or in depth. I ended up relying on other tour guides picked up along the way to help pick out hikes.
Portable and usable but not great: This book hits the basics but could be organized in a more intuitive, user-friendly fashion. I used this book to supplement Moon Handbooks Alberta for a recent trip to the province.
Decent book: Although the book does not contain exactly what I was looking for (detail highway maps)I found the information very helpful for a planned trip.
